Finding the energy to continue to roll…

Energy..

When I was rolling, I always in positions or situations I could listen to my Sensei/ Masters..telling me to keep the push..to keep going..even if I was tired..depleted in energy…but I was be able to listen them and understand they wanna the best of me..at that moment..

Even if I was dead tired..of course I wasn’t..because I was breathing..I will make sure won’t stop until I listen the bell ring..That voice eco inside my brain make me believe in myself.. learning how to move when I couldn’t ..

You can’t put off tomorrow what can be done today..the joy..the moment..Hope is the most precious treasure to a person..Nothing is impossible to a willing heart..

I will always make sure to put my last reserve of energy out there to do the move as accomplished.

Roll hard ? All Time ? Why ?

Don’t know how to handle they got defeat..

In most of cases, not everyone know how to accept defeat because never been in that situation. Nowadays, you can only target one specific belt or person. If the defeat is not being part of your daily, will be hard to swallow when happens.

Is better to accept and don’t get injury. JiuJitsu is the best format of Martial Arts near to crumble your ego. Be prepare. Will happen. Only don’t if you not training Brazilian JiuJitsu.

Level of Training.

For the ones that believe they should train 1000% all the time, to be success in competitions, you are totally wrong. Won’t help you and won’t make you better, you will be more open for injures.

Results.

Losing a sparring session will be normal if you want progress. The student that only spar 1000% and win all the time, wont get it when the lost occur. Why ? Because never happen inside the dojo. From Child to Ages forward, everyone should understand there’s always someone training more than you. Even more than me! I am okay with that as long there’s constant in my work.

Ambience.

For last, the ambience of a dojo will make you want to come back. Brotherhood; Friendship; Camaraderie; Sportsmanship are elements that help dilute animosity inside the dojo. Take care of your partner and help them improve so you can improve as well as a human. Even if a injure occur, you still can talk with your Professor how can the training can be adaptive for you.

Take Care.

Make a Excuse to Train JiuJitsu.

See you next time!

Jiu Jitsu School

Brazilian JiuJitsu is a crescent and explosive movement across the globe. Don’t you think ? Just look Mark Zuckerberg (CEO of Facebook). This year awarded with a Blue Belt (Blue Belt in JiuJitsu is the 2nd belt in the Rank System by IBJJF – International Brazilian JiuJitsu Federation. Actually look for a Brazilian JiuJitsu School near by and make sure the school have the proper credentials and you do not want wasting your money away.

The Professors. Background check is necessary and a must for a parent that wanna enroll kids; teens or even law enforcement in a curriculum that allows you learn this majestic Martial Arts.

Actually, when I started, we were a bunch a kids just having fun, until this day I do have fun when I do BJJ.. and let me tell you something that time, there’s no Law enforcement at all practicing with us… Today I believe is a must for all departments learn Brazilian JiuJitsu.

Professor in Brazilian JiuJitsu is someone that reach the status of a Black Belt, and in a unique case, a Professional that is been Black Belt for at least 3 years. Specially now, with the popularity of the sport, many when they get theirs, they believe they can start teaching with no experience at all. And they end up getting in trouble…seriously, if you dig a bit in each one..several cases appeared in the past years, but they will be extinct as the days go by.

Atmosphere should be a friendly one, since day one. Brazilians in most of the cases, we like fun, and when the vibe connects is easy to feel that energy in the air. Students mingle with each other, training to push each other, but with a friendly environment is rare you get seriously hurt.

Hygiene coming from both parts is a must. A clean and dry Gi for practice should be obviously, but there’s students that need that reminder and we here do our part. Tip from this old pal here: If you can only afford one Gi, once you finished your class carry your gi. Don’t put straight inside your bag. Once you in your car, open the windows at leas for he dry. Wear a rash guard underneath will help extra sweat from you attach to your uniform. If you are the first one reading this, and you send me a message guessing the name of my BJJ club is located in Rio, I will send you a Gi. So you can have an extra one. You just need to send me your size. Oh remember the mats should be clean as well, so like I said before. Both of us need to be in the same page.

How about a Curriculum ? Sure, like it is important follow the steps so your learning experience can be pleasant. Have a certain you learning the moves proper and with the patience will guide you to a satisfying ending when you be able to apply a Armlock; Triangle or even a Omoplata.

Here a summit for what to learn in my vision and experience:

HIP ESCAPE; BREAK FALL; FRONT ROLL.

MOUNT ATTACKS : CHOKES; AMERICANA AND ARMLOCK.

GUARD PASS: STAND UP AND ON YOUR KNEES.

TAKEDOWNS.

ATTACKS FROM GUARD.

SWEEPS FROM GUARD.

HOW TO START TRAINING ON THE KNEES.

Thanks for reading this. English is not my first language and if I made a mistake I apologize in advance.

Competition.

A format of individuals that can test themselves and they’re technically among others.

For many, the most terrifying thing since Baron of Cheubratain create in the modern era. Testing your capabilities to extend they’re physically. A thousands couldn’t take for the simple reason that, at changes they’re sistemas of living. A few create the courage in many ways: watching others or getting inspire by a few magic words. Tape Fingers…

Why the use for tape ?

Ain’t fashion; ain’t show off… is just for the simple fact, thru the years, your joints starting to swollen, and with a little piece, you can protect them and in some cases, serve as a cushion for the fingers. For the extreme cases, the mat burn, common for any beginner, protects them. When I started Jiujitsu, the mats were made by heavy canvas, same as they use for boats in the 80’s. Nowadays, for sure technology involve in bjj but, is better feel worry than sorry and be out of Jiujitsu.

Miami

This month of January was my monthly visit to the Melting Pot City.

Was great to see my students and friends from the Ghost Squad Brazilian JiuJitsu Team. And welcoming John Wai Martial Arts from Plantation to our Squad. What a great asset. But let’s go beyond on that topic. Adding.

When you add quality to your circle, the tendency is you become a better version of yourself. I mean in all aspects, specially if that specific person has something to add to your business. Looking for the bright future adding those assets. And taking advantage and wish the best of luck 🍀 to his students that will represent Team USA 🇺🇸 in the World Cup of Mixed Martial Arts in Dubai.

Thanks to Back Alley Strength and Conditioning for the Award. 2x in a row!

Excited 😊 to share for the second year in a row me and wife won the Best Supporter. This is how we would like to set as a example for future couples. When you support a program, you go beyond than just what the normal couples or singles do. There’s always a spice to add into, and we do add so that can be special. Special for such a dedicated Coaches that takes much time to develop the program, and not going in platforms to just copy exercises and delivery to members. They work really hard and they deserve all credit.

Big Thanks to my Friend and Black Belt Professor Lazaro Amaro and the whole Squad of Miami JiuJitsu for allowing me to teach a class. Such a phenomenal group of people that I love to visit. Not for last, all the best of luck 🤞 🍀 to Professor Ernesto Frye and his Elemental JiuJitsu and Fitness located in Palmetto Bay right next to The Falls Shopping Mall.

For now, make yourself part of this challenge: Get a piece of paper and write 5 things you wanna achieve. Write me back what you got it ✅ I would love to follow your process.

Todays 🏋️‍♂️

✅ Chest Press 12/ 10/ 8 = 40/40/45

✅ Lat Pulldown 12/10/8 = 70/85/100

✅ Chest 45 12/10/8 = 35/40/45 (I almost couldn’t do it because there’s two guys chatting for at least 15 minutes, Jesus cuz, let it go the weights and let me do my set!)

✅ Low Row 12/10/8 = 70/85/100

I started with 45 minutes of walking on treadmill with a 3.0 inclination ( I thought 💭 I was going to the 🌙)

See you guys next time. Stay healthy/ Eat clean/ Respect all.

Brazilian jiu-jitsu Beyond

This month on June 2019, I was invited to a seminar, belt promotion and grand opening in Kalamazoo, Mi.

Amir Khillah is the owner of Lighting Kicks. Beyond my friend and black belt Tom Lynn, our strings got more attach with the years ahead. I am so grateful for be able to do what I love and surround myself with people who love me. Is always a great experience come here and share what I know and be able to help other people succeed. Brazilian JiuJitsu is a tool that can fix and build everything. Despite what occurs in life, our authentic Martial Arts comes to congregate many of us in only one place: a dojo.

How cool is that ? You be able to connect with different backgrounds and experience energy levels and play fight. Yeah, that’s right, what we do we play fight. Coming from a era that are a few rules in the sport, now is completely different. But the essence of friendship and partners is the principal in all of that.

Group picture here at Lighting Kicks; Kalamazoo, MI.

Also it important we always make sure our Professors go in the right patch. Talk and communication is a priority in a group of individuals with the same idea of make a place better for everyone. And can be from simple ideas to change curriculum or even structures. Is a good asset have ideas on the table for the progress of any program that will comply with the daily basis.

Professors and Coaches meeting to move forward in strategies for classes and structure programs.

Hope everyone have a great day !
